Practical security research

Mervin — B.E. CSE (AI & ML), 2026, based in Mangaluru. CPTS in progress. I run a homelab detection stack and am actively learning red teaming, VAPT, and reproducible security tooling.

I used Kismet to detect deauthentication floods and forwarded those alerts into Wazuh for centralized collection and notification. I am continuing to learn tools and techniques across red teaming and VAPT while focusing on reproducible findings.

Current priorities include completing the CPTS certification and pursuing opportunities to gain more practical experience in offensive security.

Resilient home network with automatic failover

No router admin access, so the whole remote-access and monitoring layer was built around it instead — subnet routing with automatic failover, and cross-monitoring nodes that watch each other so the monitoring itself has no single point of failure.

Deauth Flood Detection → SIEM Pipeline

Kismet running on a Raspberry Pi as a dedicated WiFi IDS, alerting on deauth floods over syslog into Wazuh, with custom rules to separate real attacks from noisy neighbors.

PacMap — Live Network Traffic Visualizer

PacMap is a graph-first network traffic visualizer for live capture and PCAP replay. It provides interactive exploration, checkpointing and diffing of network state to accelerate investigation.
